The Peninsula Tennis Academy, a pioneer in the Indian context, has received accolades from one and all
since its inception in 1990 as it has filled a void in Indian tennis. Some of its
important accomplishments are:
*Rated the largest Tennis academy in India (ref. Limca Book of Records).
The
Peninsula Tennis Academy has a network of centres across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Meerut,
Kanpur and Ajmer.
*The first and only specialised training school in India today, offering both
residential and non-residential programmes scientifically designed to meet the
competitive needs of the trainees.
*Only Academy to have pioneered a tie-up with the world renowned
Professional Tennis Registry, USA (PTR) which certifies
Indian coaches as per
international standards and imparts the
latest training techniques in India. All Peninsula coaches are
certified by the
PTR and conform to the highest world standards.
*The Academy was the first in India to launch
an in-house training programme for its coaches and has become the core
empowerment center for tennis expertise in India.
*First to involve the superstars of Indian tennis in launching a professional coaching
scheme for Indian Juniors -
Ramanathan Krishnan, Ramesh Krishnan and Jaidip Mukerjea.
*The Academy
combines the latest tennis technology in the West with the time-tested Indian teaching
traditions and has pioneered the "School Tennis Programme" in
association with the well known CSKM Public School, Mehrauli, in 1994. This
novel programme has been launched with the sole intent to promote sports in our
country and offers students an affordable opportunity to learn tennis at highly
subsidized cost. All tennis equipment including rackets, balls and teaching aids
are provided free of cost. This model is now being used successfully across the
country!
*Promotion of tennis among the
EWS by imparting tennis training to young and deserving children.
*Organized special Tennis Clinic by tennis legend, Boris Becker (Former World No. 1 and
coach of
current World no 1 Novak Djokovic) at the prestigious Bangalore Club in
Bangalore in May 2013 sponsored by Mercedes Benz.
*Organized a part of "Road to Wimbledon Initiative" tennis workshop with Tim
Henman (former World No.4 and four times semi-finalist at Wimbledon), Goran
Ivanisevic (Former World No, 1) and Dan Bloxham (Head Coach All England Club,
Wimbledon) conducted at the prestigious Delhi Gymkhana Club.
*Conducted a specialized Tennis Clinic by tennis legend Vijay Amritraj in
association with the WTA and the Singapore Tourism Board in July 2014.
*Conducted several Tennis Clinics by international super coach and PTR Master
Professional Dr Ludovit Cap, one of the foremost tennis coaches in the world.
*Peninsula's own integrated tennis complex, modeled on the
lines of tennis academies in the West, was located on five acres
of picturesque lush green landscape on the suburbs of Delhi in Gurgaon
comprising of tennis courts, residential accommodation, modern
Gymnasium,
classrooms, Pro-shop, sand pit, recreational centre and cafeteria.
*The Academy has annually held prestigious Tournaments which award the highest Prize Money for Junior Tennis
in India - Eternit Everest Cup, Wilson Championships, Campa
Cup, Reebok Cup, Agilent Cup and the Peninsula Cup.
*Only Academy in India with the latest sophisticated training
aids
available in the West - Tennis Ball Machines, Tennis
Analyst, Servo- meter,
Speed Check radar, Diet Monitor, Video
Filming and Playback and Audio training
aids.
*Launched several nationwide "Great Talent Search" Workshops to
unearth talent which led to many top Juniors being discovered by Peninsula!
*Sends Junior Teams to represent the Academy in International Tournaments.
Annually
sends Indian coaches for advanced training to the
USA.
*Pioneered the
“Cheerleading Contest” and the “Tennis Quiz Contest” in India which have
received rave reviews from all.
*Peninsula events are
regularly covered by the national
media - TV, newspapers, magazines and
All India Radio -
thereby setting new standards in
sports publicity by making front page news.
